James and John requested to sit at Jesus’ right and left in His coming Kingdom, which resulted in resentment against them by the other disciples. Sadly, this incident foreshadowed thousands of future similar incidents when church leaders would attempt to exalt themselves.

The Way to Greatness

When two of Jesus’ disciples asked to sit on His right and left in His coming kingdom, He seized this opportunity to teach all of His disciples about the way, as well as the cost, required to be great in His coming Kingdom. In God’s kingdom, the way up is down!
