HeavenWord 7 – Day 183

John the Baptist Has His Doubts

Like John, when we find ourselves facing difficult circumstances, we are tempted to doubt God’s love. During those times, we need to take a cue from what we read in today’s story. When we face what we don’t understand, it is time to fall back on what we do understand.

Todays Scripture: Matthew 11:1-5

HeavenWord 7 – Day 199

Optimistic Jesus

Jesus is not waiting for people to sin so He can judge them or fail so He can discard them. If there is hope, Jesus is hoping. Today’s reading shows us how Jesus breathes hope into hopeless situations. So why should we ever lose hope?

Todays Scripture: Matthew 12:14-20

HeavenWord 7 – Day 169

Sheep, Wolves, Snakes, and Doves

In one sentence, Jesus spoke of four animals in order to illustrate His instructions to the twelve as He sent them out. We need to be as shrewd as serpents, as the world is full of wolves—and wolves in sheep’s clothing. How do we protect ourselves?

Todays Scripture: Matthew 10:16-17

HeavenWord 7 – Day 171

Household Persecution

Jesus indicated that it would be inevitable that families would be divided over Him. If that happens, it is a test of our love for God. But is it possible for a true Christian to abandon his or her faith under persecution?

Todays Scripture: Matthew 10:21-22

Murdering Hundreds of Verses to Save One

What did Jesus mean when He told the twelve that they would not finish going through the cities of Israel until He came? Was His promise fulfilled in AD 70 when Jerusalem fell at the siege of the Roman Legions?

Todays Scripture: Matthew 10:23
